Dr. Reba L. Smith, President and Chief Compliance Officer
Dr. Reba Smith has over 30 years’ experience overseeing financial aid operations and compliance matters in institutions of higher education. Her previous experience includes serving as the Chief Compliance Officer at the University of Silicon Valley and at Stratatech Education Group. She also held the positions of Director of Student Financial Operations, Regional Financial Aid Director, and Corporate Director of Financial Aid at several post-secondary institutions. She has also served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves.
Dr. Smith is highly proficient policy and procedure development and analysis, internal auditing and investigations, completing Return of Title IV (R2T4) calculations, Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) monitoring and review, performing verification, Title IV Funds reconciliation and close out, Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP), and electronic application (e-app) submissions. She has experience with several financial aid software systems, including Campus Nexus and Anthology, along with the U.S. Department of Education’s suite of applications and website for administering Federal Student Aid.
During her career, Dr. Smith has been a member of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), the Western Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (WASFAA), and the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics. She has served on the Career Education Colleges and Universities (CECU) Regulatory Affairs Committee and was an Accreditation Team Leader for the Accrediting Commission of Career Colleges and Schools (ACCSC). She has conducted several presentations at the ACCSC and Arizona Private Schools Association conferences.
Dr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Wilmington University, a Master of Business Administration from Kaplan University/Purdue University Global, a Master of Legal Studies with a specialization in Compliance and Risk Management from the University of Arizona, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education with a specialization in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University.
